the champions league is back after a long hiatus. Here's my take on the team's chances: ac milan: hopeless in the serie a. inclusion of the fat ronaldo may be the answer to shevchenko's departure. celtics: they should not progress beyond this stage. but nakamura's freekick is their wild card. lille: this team is getting better and better in recent seasons. but their opponent will be too strong for them. man utd: lille's opponent. i can see the word revenge written all over this match. psv eindhoven: no longer the powerful dutch team that dominated the champions league. arsenal: dubbed the best team to never win the champions league. watch out for them real madrid: the king of kings has seen 3 or 4 years without a trophy and i reckon that streak will continue this year. bayern munich: fall from grace. from league champions to strugglers of a champions league place in the domestic league. but unbeaten in the champions league. barcelona: probably the best team in the tournament. the defending champions will face a tough liverpool side. should win at home. liverpool: underdogs against barca. the tie will be determined at anfield. fc porto: good bye chelsea: when a team performs below par in the domestic league, you know they might achieve something great in europe. see liverpool in 2005 and arsenal in 2006. inter: unstoppable in italy in the absence of juventus. the most star-studded team in europe. but looks are deceiving. valencia: a good team. but are they good enough? roma: i see roma as a one-man team. whether or not they can progress depends on him. lyon: the team to watch. the way they dominate and win matches with limited talent is commendable. my predictions for the first leg: ac milan 2-1 celtics lillie 1-3 man utd psv 2-3 arsenal real madrid 1-0 bayern munich barcelona 1-0 liverpool porto 1-4 chelsea inter 2-2 valencia roma 0 -2 lyon ben @ 9:54 PM : comments: 0 |
