| WEST VIRGINIA |
Almost heaven, west virginia Blue ridge mountains Shenandoah river Life is old there Older than the trees Younger than the mountains Growin like a breeze Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads All my memories gathered around her Miner's lady, stranger to blue water Dark and dusty, painted on the sky Misty taste of moonshine Teardrops in my eye Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads I hear her voice In the mornin hour she calls me The radio reminds me of my home far away And drivin down the road I get a feelin That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West virginia, mountain momma Take me home, country roads Take me home, now country roads Take me home, now country roads leon @ 11:01 PM : comments: 0 |

| apes |
I was watching a documentary on Channel Newsasia today entitled "A Species Odyssey". This show re-enacts the milestones in the evolution of humans from apes. Sounds cool? Here's a brief knowledge I acquired and I would like to share it with everyone. The show started off with Orrorin and Toumai, two ape-like creatures. They have names and personalities and look weird and move oddly. After lumbering around with four limbs for some time, they began to try standing up and walk on two legs. ![]() 100 000 years later, Orrorin and Toumai evolved into a more human form, but still hairy like an ape. Lucy was an imaginary name given to this female ape-like creature who represented what might be our grandmother's ancestor. The show illustrated how Lucy drowned and ended up in a river while pregnant with her fifth child. Lucy's remains were actually found at the site of Ethiopian river in 1974 (fact). What's next? The homo habilis (he invented the tool), homo erectus (invented use of fire and possibly held the first ever barbecue) and finally the homo sapien (your granddaddy's granddaddy's granddaddy's granddaddy's great granddaddy!). Look at how they grow and evolve (notice the lack of hair). The final part highlighted the story of Neanderthal (i think, because i was almost falling asleep at this point). ![]() Tough love: Neandertal men kidnapping a modern human woman. PS: Those who missed this episode of "A Species Odyssey", here's good news for you. "A Species Odyssey Part 2" airs next sunday (Oct 16), CNA, 7.30pm. ben @ 11:59 AM : comments: 0 |
